# Tar filesystem

The fs/tar unit accesses a tar file, using ar/tar, through the Filesystem API.
This API is read-only.

To speed seek operations (which would be very very slow if implemented naively),
we build an index of all records when the TarFS is created. It's exclusively
this index that is queried during :child and :children.

For this API to work, the tar is expected to have a particular format:

1. All record names begin with "./"
2. Directory records have their name ending with a "/".

## Usage

Have a Drive that targets the tar contents and feed it to
"newtarfs ( drv -- fs )". It behaves like a regular filesystem.
