# Discuss Dusk OS Three ways are offered to discuss Dusk OS or Collapse OS: 1. Reach me directly 2. Subscribe to the mailing list 3. Chat on IRC ## Reach me directly My name is Virgil Dupras and I can be reached at virgil@duskos.org. ### Private discussions with anonymous interlocutors When I receive a private email from an unknown address that requires a thoughtful response, I will ignore it. Normally, I wouldn't mind answering your email, but in this era of LLMs and trolls, it's too likely that I end up wasting my thoughtfulness to nobody's benefit. If I can be reasonably certain that you're a human of good faith, then sure, I'll answer it, but otherwise, I'd ask you to direct your communication to the mailing list. With the list, even if the troll or the LLM doesn't care about the thoughtful response, at least the world at large can benefit from it. ## Mailing list Discussion about Dusk OS and Collapse OS takes place on a sourcehut mailing list[1]. It works like a regular mailing list, but sourcehut's insistance on using the `~` and `/` characters in its email addresses makes some crappier service providers such as **gmail** choke on it. If you're using such provider, you might have troubles with the list, in particular: replying to subjects won't reply to the list, only the previous sender. You might also want to refer to sourcehut's docs on the subject[2]. Also, sourcehut will **drop HTML emails**. I can't say I blame them. Don't use HTML emails. I know Dusk OS and Collapse OS too much and have blind spots for what is good introductory material. Please let me know when documentation is insufficient. * Discussions around design decisions, tradeoffs, etc.. * Patches and code review If the subject you want to bring fits in one of these categories, then it's always on-topic, even when it's very specific to your particular context. Broader topics are fine too, we just have to keep in mind the reason for this list to exist. ## IRC The `#duskos` and `#collapseos` channels on LiberaChat[3] have some people in it. There's routinely myself. [3]: https://libera.chat/
