This program {see source} has some 'history' {as probably most of the games} - since 'playing and learning' seem to go hand in hand. Last station in its long journey was Hans Zangger, Zurich {thanks Hans} - who asked me, to re-translate. I did so - and 'nearly' got going to change the "fast-video" string-handling routines {and for that matter the main body} to 1. Do bolding etc via 'built-in' char's into the strings - i.e. ^BOthello^B would translate to 'BOLD on' Othello 'Bold off' etc. 2. Combine all necessary text into ONE PLACE - read it in as OTHELLO.DAT - and use it, wherever necessary. All of the above stays on the 'wishlist' - whoever ventures to do it, might take a look at WORM - a Pascal-game Rob Stuikenbroek - which has already a WORM.DAT {currrently english} and WORM.DUT {same for dutch language} Aside for 'cleaning' up this one - we probably can then use 'generalized' routines for more 'serious business' too... GOTELO uses GSX for Rainbow-MSDOS. There seems to be a slight problem at startup. You can 'survive that' by... GSX -- start up GSX GSX N -- remove it GSX -- bring it in again GOTELO -- and start enjoying Bernie.
