DFL v2.61 William Ataras Registration $ 35.00 UTIL DEC90 ATARAS DUPLICATE FILE FINDER LOCATOR FILES: dfl-261.sdn Update The DUPLICATE FILE LOCATOR (DFL) program is used to locate all duplicate files which are on one or more disk drives of any size. There are two modes of operation. The first - NAME MODE - searches for dups like any other similar program does. It looks for files with matching names. The program begins by building an internal list of all files on the disks, along with path information. DFL then sorts the list alphabetically. Files with the same name will be adjacent when this is done. DFL then puts up the list of all dupli- cates in a screen window. The second mode - ALIAS MODE - is unique with DFL. In this mode, the internal list is built and then sorted by file size. In this way, files of the same length will be adja- cent in the internal list. Then DFL compares the data in files of the same length. In this way, files with the same information, regardless of the names, will be reported in the screen window. After DFL has built the list of duplicates and displayed it in the window, the user can view the files, write the list to a file, compare files, or delete one or more files. All of these functions are explained in the on-line help system. Just press F1 whenever DFL is waiting for user input and a large help window opens. You can scroll through the help window to find whatever information you are seeking. This version has two features not present in earlier ver- sions: 1. All of the hard disks in the system can be processed at the same time. This allows users with multiple drives or a LAN manager to examine their entire systems. 2. The display screen was completely revised to enhance the appearance of the display. DFL was written because I found no acceptable programs on any of the BBSs I tried. While there were similar programs, some had bugs, others ran out of memory when processing my 330 Meg drive, none had a file view feature, and none had an ALIAS mode. DFL is the solution to all of these problems. Hardware Requirements: DOS 3.0 or later System Requirements: 256K, more may be needed if the disk has a very large number of files and sub-directories and one or more hard disks. _____________________________________________________________ (SDA format (c)Copyright 1990 The SDN Project - SDNet/Works!) _____________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________
