IMPORTANT <<
The administrator option to convert a WIKINDX v1.x database has been removed in v2.2. Those with such a database (WIKINDX version < 2.0.1) should first upgrade to v2.0.1, convert the database, then upgrade further. It's assumed that there are very few of those users left if any so this is a code cleanout. See the section below.

UPDATING FROM WIKINDX >= v2.0.1 to WIKINDX v3.1

1/ The tar or zip file installs into a wikindx3/ directory.
2/ The default database in v3.1 config.php is 'wikindx3'. If you wish to use your current v2.x database, you should edit config.php appropriately before running WIKINDX. WIKINDX v3.1 significantly changes the database structure to accommodate the vastly expanded repertoire of resource types. The first time you run v3.1 on a database used with v2.0.1 or greater, WIKINDX will automatically upgrade the database. AS ALWAYS, YOU SHOULD BACK UP YOUR DATABASE FIRST.
3/ The management of bibliographic styles has also significantly changed to accommodate the new plug-in architecture and admin web interface for creating and editing such styles. All styles go within their own named directory within the wikindx3/styles/bibliography/ directory. In order to create new styles, 'wikindx3/styles/bibliography/' MUST be writeable by the web server user. In order to edit existing styles, each XML style file MUST be writeable by the web server user. *NIX users can untar with -p to preserve the correct permissions (these permissions are 0777 to ensure that WIKINDX runs out of the box - you may wish to make them more secure); Windows users must do it manually. (As a reminder, the files/ directory, used for temporary storage of exported bibliographic lists, and the attachments/ folder, used for file attachments, must also be writeable by the web server user.)
4/ Due to the change in the bibliographic styles noted above, the default bibliographic style and every users' style preferences have been reset to APA. After updating WIKINDX, you _may_ need to log out and log in again to pick up this change before displaying bibliographies.

               ---:::---:::---:::---:::---:::---:::---:::---:::---:::---:::---:::---:::---

UPDATING FROM WIKINDX <= v2.0.1 to >= v2.1

1/ The first time you run WIKINDX after installing v2.1 (and assuming you are using the same database), you will be asked to enter your superadmin username and password. Until you have correctly validated yourself, WIKINDX will not be able to be used. This is a feature of database modifications required by, among other things, the new multi user system.

2/ Languages, bibliographic styles and templates are now plug-ins that will be released as separate download packs from the WIKINDX sourceforge site. Although some default styles and templates are supplied with the core download, only English is supplied as a core language. Due to the new plug-in system, some files from <= v2.0.1 are no longer used or have been moved elsewhere. Although it's not at all necessary, you may wish to do some housekeeping by removing the following files:
wikindx2/core/messages/help/*	- all files and the help/ directory
wikindx2/core/messages/*_*.php - all files with '_' in the name such as ABOUT_en.php or ERRORS_de.php
wikindx2/styles/bibliography/APA.php
wikindx2/styles/bibliography/MLA.php
wikindx2/styles/bibliography/MHRA.php
wikindx2/styles/bibliography/HARVARD_AGPS.php
