       Distilled water is an item that is part of my regular grocery 
       list.  It has been for some time now.  I go through about 5 
       gallons a week.  I usually buy it by the gallon.  They have a 2 
       gallon container, but costs m0ar per ounce.  I would think that it 
       would be less expensive buying m0ar in the 2 gallon container, but 
       not the case here.
       
       About a month ago, I got sick of going to the grocery several times 
       a week to pick up my 5 gallons of distilled water.  Sometimes the 
       closest grocery does not have it in stock and sometimes I have to 
       check other sources.  This time they only had 1 gallon so I grabbed 
       it and took it home.  There has to be a better solution.
       
       That's when I decided to pull the trigger and pick up a water 
       distiller.  The one I decided to get holds a little over a gallon 
       of water.  It kinda looks like a super-sized electric tea kettle 
       appliance.  It takes about 4 hours to distill 1 gallon of city tap 
       water, which is 6 gallons per day, if you run it all the time.  The 
       most I've done is 2 gallons in a day.  I would probably only do 3 
       gallons tops since running the distiller all the time would 
       probably kill it.
       
       I was surprised to see how much nasty gunk was left over in the 
       main chamber after running a cycle.  It made me wonder about 
       how one would be affected if one were to consume city tap water 
       daily for an extended period of time.  We use a filter for our 
       drinking water, but I'm not sure what kinda gunk gets past the 
       filter.  Looks like something to possibly research.
       
       I did the math with the power consumption and everything and it 
       looks like I save about 50% in ca$h money doing it this way, as 
       well as I get to stop adding to my large collection of gallon 
       containers that needs to be repurposed.  The rig will probably pay 
       for itself in 4 months.  Hopefully it lasts that long!
