OCC DAY 04of07
Day 4 I spent probably way too much time sifting through parts to
put in this project. I had to stop myself from thinking about it
too much or I would get stuck so I had to take action. I switched
gears and decided to add the Raspberry Pi Zero.
The Raspberry Pi Zero is not considered old in my personal
computing timeline. It came out in 2015 and there have been many
different versions of Raspberry Pi that has come out since then.
Maybe in the timeline of single board computers it might be
considered old. Time is relative.
This particular board was originally supposed to be part of the
cybah rig [1] but I decided to go with the RPi Zero W with the
baked in wifi instead of tethering a dongle.
With this board, i gathered some parts to get working on it. Power
supply, cables, adapters, display, USB hub, microSD card. I
decided to try out recalbox for the distro since I'm sure I could
find something pinball or pachinko related to run on it.
The rest of the time was spent trying to get the damb thing to
work. Bad microSD cards, funky display configs, interruptions,
adapter hunting, m0ar troubleshooting, etc. I'll spare you the
play-by-play.
Finally, by 3AM, I got it to a point where I coutd put it down.
Things seemed to work as they should. Next step is to stuff the
parts in the old PC case. Hopefully I can get to this earlier in
the day rather than later. Here's a pic. [2]
