OK, where was I? Oh yeah, 3D Blu-Ray.
Fast-forward to now, where I am thinking about 3D Blu-Ray again...
I decided to try hooking up the Xreal Air glasses to the 3D Blu-Ray
player to view 3D videos. After many attempts, no dice. I could
get 2D, but not 3D. I think some external HDMI box from Xreal is
needed for it to work, but I'm not even sure if it would work with
my 3D Blu-Ray player, so I'm not going that route. Also, I'm not
even sure if SBS 3D is compatible with whatever gets outputted via
HDMI.
Other found option: extract 3D video from Blu-Ray disc and convert
to SBS 3D video file. There seems to be interest in this kind of
conversion in recent days on the surface webz, with people wanting
to view 3D content on their next-gen virtual reality rigs. I guess
this is a common format for the 3D of now.
Basically, what needs to be done is the following:
1. Convert 3D Blu-Ray disc to mkv using makemkv with appropriate
config.
2. Convert mkv file to SBS 3D mkv file using BD3D2MK3D with
appropriate config.
3. Test SBS 3d mkv file on cybah DeX rig.
4. Bob's your uncle.
Gah! Another interruption. m0ar again l8r...
