I am just having some coffee here in the garage. The temperature is
comfortable, probably around upper 60's F. The sky is overcast. We
need some rain. It has been awhile.

The family and I packed into the mini van last night and picked out
our xmas tree. Pickins were slim, but we went to a small lot to
begin with and found what we needed for a decent price. It was so
nice to be surrounded by that pine-fresh smell.

The lot had me thinking about fellow fediverse friend, gemlog. He
works on a pine tree farm and is probably quite busy with his work
during these days. He writes and posts pics about his work sometimes.
I think they harvest 150+ trees per day. I can only imagine how it is
       to work there.

The picture I see is acres of trees surrounded by forest and nature.
Maybe a bit of elevation. A bit of snow and ice. Not too cold and
the sun reflecting off of the powder-covered trees. The sky with a
few streaks of clouds, birds migrating overhead. Crisp air mixed with
the smell of the pines, campfire, and coffee. Sounds of quiet winter
with nature sounds occasionally breaking the silence.

Most of my work has been in the comforts of the great
environmentally-controlled indoors and behind the glow of the computer
screen. Views of drab cubicle walls, mixed and matched office
furniture, office appliances. Sounds of typing, copiers, random beeps,
shuffling feet, distant conversations. Smells of coffee, mystery
microwave food, disinfectant, perfume, ripe computer geek.

I think it would be nice to have a bit of both indoor and outdoor work.
Then again, I could probably just spend more time on my yard instead of
defaulting to staying indoors when I am not working. Not that I am
working these days. Funny how this took me to writing about work,
which I don't really feel like thinking about. Time to get back to
       the xmas decorations.
