These past two weeks or so have been pretty rough for me. I
have been on call for the past two weeks for work and there
have been changes to our procedures. It has been busy and my
schedule has been severly disrupted. I took today off as a
mental health day to try and recover some more.

These days, I find it harder for me to deal with disruptions.
I am not as capable of getting back on track as I used to be.
I wonder if it is part of getting older or maybe it is just
how I am now. Well, with that in mind, I think I need to
make some adjustments when I am aware of these scheduled
distruptions, like being on call. Instead of taking a sick
day, maybe I can schedule a vacation day at the end of my on
call shift. I should also get my ducks in a row a lot sooner
in anticipation of these shifts. I should be fine moving
forward as long as I plan better.

One of the things I dislike about these on call shifts is
that I tend to put my life in suspension during these times.
Since my sleeping, eating, and exercise is not regular, I go
into this survival mode where I try to be available for work
and take care of these biological needs when I can. Anything
else, especially personal projects, practicing guitar,
reading books, writing, most leisure pursuits, etc., get put
on hold until after on call recovery. I dislike that, but it
is part of the job. At least these days, my shift comes up
       every 2 months.
