It's MSI ex710x laptop. Specs suggests it's 17" ATI HD3470 AMD Turion64
X2 with 3GB RAM. Something like that. It's so weared off it barely
shines on max screen brightness. Aluminium frame connecting to lid
joint was repaired previously - I cut/drilled equal aluminium details.
It still wasn't enough and same issue caused complete destruction of
plastic on both sides. That's not to mention how much it was noisy! So
I decided before I throw it away I may try some surgery...
First and only surprise I got was cooling agent inside heat sinks. I
connected 2 mm aluminium plate with native laptop copper heat sinks
over 1 cm thick copper rod, which I got from burned power soldering
iron and flattened to get tight connection. I thought I may solder
copper parts but because of Al plate decided to drill/carve holes and
that's how I discovered there was filler. Somehow I missed modding
hobby in my youth. Obviously it stopped conducting heat which led to
exceeding temperature and autoshutdown. That forced me to repeat
drilling right next to CPU/GPU radiators. It still wasn't enough so I
attached two wide coolers to USB ports, which run completely silent.
And since I was more or less sure it won't burn instantly I assembled
it on simple wooden frame. Photo 2 shows leftover of perforated iron
angle from frame basis welded to iron angle holder. Two threaded rods
allow to fix rotation angle, two perforated straps let fix heel. [2]
