My prefered editor is nano, probably because it's relatively simple
and it was the first I was introduced to (and could use without confusion).
I recently found that I could make it much nicer to use by copying
/usr/pkg/share/nano/nanorc.nanorc to my home (~) as .nanorc, then
       editing to enable options.

For gopher purposes, these are options which seem useful that I've
       enabled:

       set atblanks
       set softwrap
set breaklonglines # might be redundant to softwrap?
       set fill 70
       set guidestripe 75
