       Might want to check what 'ls' is actually calling; my shell
       has it aliased:
       
       $ which ls
       ls:      aliased to colorls -G
       
       Using the full path, /bin/ls, will ensure you are using the
       native ls(1) command for which '/bin/ls -1t' sorts newest to
       oldest by access time.
