       SUBJECT: Genealogies of Jesus' Father Joseph in Gospels
       DATE:    31-Jul-25 10:54:07

       Both Gospel of Matthew Chapter 1 and Gospel of Luke Chapter 3
       trace Jesus's genealogy clearly through his step-father Joseph.
       Matthew's gospel trace him up to Abraham, whereas Luke's gospel
       traces all the way back to Adam. However, these two genealogies
       are quite different.

       For example;

       According to Gospel of Matthew: father of Jesus' father Joseph is
       Jacob, his father is Matthan, his father is Eleazar and his father Eliud.
       Eliud -> Eleazar -> Matthan -> Jacob -> Joseph (Jesus' step-father)

       According to Gospel of Luke: father of Jesus' father Joseph is
       Heli, his father is Matthat, his father is Levi and his father Melchi.
       Melchi -> Levi -> Matthat -> Heli -> Joseph (Jesus' step-father)

       According to Gospel of Matthew, there are 27 generations from David
       to Joseph; whereas there are 42 generations according to Gospel of Luke.

       How can that be?
