2026-05-24T10:21Z :: Today the Engine Learns to Speak Lua
Cafe du Monde, pressed tight in the metal filter. Boiling water hits
the grounds, and the kitchen fills with the scent of chicory and
earth. Drip by drip, coffee falls into the waiting pool of condensed
milk. Dark, meeting cream, no rush. The sun cracks the horizon. Dew
glitters. I stir, sip, and the day is mine.
Today is lua day on the engine. Embedding a scripting layer so
gameplay logic lives outside of c and reloads without a recompile.
Lua's the obvious pick: tiny footprint, a c api that doesn't fight
you, and a stack based model that's easy to reason about once you
stop trying to make it look like python. The plan is to get the
interpreter embedded, expose a handful of engine bindings (entity
spawning, input polling, a logger), and have a hot reload loop
running by the end of the day.
