I'm back, with more mkphlog
Saturday Mar 9 7:11:50 2013
Hello, everybody. I'm back once again. I realize that I haven't been
very active in the past couple of months, due to school, but I finished
some cool things worth mentioning.
The second and third levels of Gopher Getaway are finished. They are a
6x6 and a 7x7 randomly generated maze respectively. I made the original
Gopher Getaway in... 2010. And while I realize that it hasn't been the
most exciting thing to hit the internet, I'm excited to have these two
levels completed. They add hours of gameplay to the original. (If you
really want to navagate a text-based labrynth for hours on end, I'm not
going to stop you). The only problem is that SDF still can't run gopher
moles, so I'll need another way to publish them.
The second thing I got accomplished is basic RSS and ATOM support for
mkphlog. I'll push those changes to mkphlog's repository. This is a
great way to follow mkphlog-based phlogs. The problem with this idea,
however, is that I want all the features of mkphlog to be available
to SDF users, which means that I can't use some of the nice
tools for parsing xml at the shell. That means that I'm kinda pushing
the limits of what I can (or for that matter, should) do with sed.
Because the code is rather 'hackish' (some of the ulgliest code I have
written, honest), I won't realese a stable version of mkphlog on my
gopherspace, only push my changes to the repository. After I tighten
things up, then I'll put the stable version up on my gopherspace.
Also it should be noted that very few, if any, RSS and ATOM readers
support the gopher protocol, so the whole thing's moot anyway. (If my
RSS reader mole was working, I'd put in a shameless plug for that).
Happy phlogging everybody!
