Music Madness
Monday Mar 19 10:08:39 2012
It's finally that time of year again - it's March Madness! Yes,
basketball season is in full swing, and people are rife with eagerness
to complete their brackets and share them with friends, family, and
coworkers. I am, unfortunately, not participating in the Madness.
Basketball's not really my thing... I'd rather hack away at the computer
or sit down at the piano or with a trumpet and play a tune. Not to say
that I'm totally against sports, their just not my favored form of
entertainment.
That's where the Wind Band Composition Bracket comes in. It's a
competition hosted by Tone Deaf Comics. It's a competition which pits
popular songs for wind band against one another. The winner is then
chosen by popular vote. As of right now, the championship is in the
"Sweet Sixteen" phase. It will be over on April 2nd, when the "best"
song for wind band has been chosen.
If you're a music geek like me, it's certainly an enjoyable way to
spend an afternoon. If not, there's some great music to enjoy if you
never really listened to "classical" music before. Who knows, you might
just like it!
