SELECTED LETTERS FROM THE BLANKE FAMILY, 1908 TO 1967 Compiled June 3, 1996 by Gordon C Blanke Copyright 1996 by Gordon C. Blanke Brea, California All commercial rights reserved Editor's note: Back in the 1950's my father, Theodore, sold the house in Sierra Madre where Donald and I grew up. At that time, I removed his junk from the basement and eventually put it in my attic, where it gathered dust for the last 23 years. Now, in 1992, I "discovered" these letters. At first I was inclined to give various ones to whomever might be most interested, and trash the rest. However, in sorting them, I realized that they have a much greater value as a complete collection. Also, anyone descended from these people might be interested, and they will grow in number as time passes. What to do - - - - - ? So I put them on computer disc and this is the result. I will keep the originals together, for whatever use arises. It's unfortunate that my father saved so few of the letters he wrote to the people involved here. The good news is that he saved these, and I am grateful. I attempted to preserve the poor spelling and unique expressions. However, there are many places where I could not make myself run sentences together the way they did. So I put in some periods and capital letters, also paragraphing. I restrained myself the most on Dorothy's letter of March 29, 1925. (I structured it only a little.) Some handwriting is difficult to read, but any serious uncertainties are noted. My comments begin with this sequence: (Ed:-- I intend for the computer discs to be copied as a means of distribution, but any commercial use is prohibited. Please exercise discretion.
