i was sick for about a week, and spent most of the time bedbound writing scheme code. i was looking at ~solderpunk's description of the "mercury protocol", a semi-defined gopher-like protocol. i was also inspired by the VF-1 gopher client. using chez scheme and the akku package manager, i made an ALMOST pure r6rs implementation of the server/client software (it has a few chez-isms, but i'll work those out in the future). - the server is called 'anikwacas' (squirrel) - the client is called 'mahkesis' (client) i call the combined server/client suite "tastapiwin" ('quick-moving', as mercury is 'the quick-moving star' "tastapiwatahk") it is not amazing, as i spent a lot of the time learning how sockets work (i'm probably not using them correctly), and remembering some scheme syntax, since it's been a while. gopher://inlisp.org/1/users/wapakosis/files/tastapiwin.tar i made a little website for the software too, just for fun. there's a story that goes with it :) https://wapakosis.inlisp.org/tastapiwin.html 2025-12-22
