I've decided to come to gopherspace to try to escape from the corporate internet (corponet). It seems to me that only a tiny fraction (< 1%) is actual content and the rest is ad's and marketing. My mind has been demented; I can't think straight a lot of the time, holding onto a thought is like trying to catch butterflies without a net. I discovered the Matrix Protocol through a hackernews article and that led me down a rabbithole (gopherhole :p) at the bottom of which lay gopherspace. I downloaded bombadillo (a terminal gopherspace browser) and started exploring. It didn't take long before I stumbled across sdf.org and the rest is history. I have set up my gopherspace, it may change but I like the way it is for now. I have my gophermap file with one area for my phlog (where you are now) and one area for articles/other writing. I also have a cgi-bin script which greps over the files in gopher/articles to search for tags (see tag search on the gophermap). I'll use the mkgopherentry script on sdf to create phlog entries and keep it nice, simple and easy to maintain. I may create other directories in the future; somewhere to upload files, etc... I may also add this to the sdf phlogosphere, haven't decided yet. Anyway, thanks for reading. I don't know anyone here or have anyone else to talk to about this stuff so feel free to contact me at thunderbulk@sdf.org if you want to reach out.
