# Other bikes. ### They keep multiplying! Until the end of last year (2024) I had three bikes in my garage: my commuter bike, Frank; my green/silver opafiets that I still haven't named because I'm bad at that; and my eldest kid's beach cruiser. Then I got an unexprected SMS from my favourite bike shop asking if I wanted one of his project bikes. Which, y'know, is kind of surprising from a business. But it turned out the shop was overcrowded with customer bikes and with business going that well he had neither the time nor the energy* to work on personal projects. So I came down to check them out. They're both old step-through city bikes - one with a 3 speed hub and one with a 5 speed derailleur. I ended up taking them both so that one didn't end up at the recycling place. It'd be a hell of a shame if that happened. He said he knew I'd treat them right since I also like old bikes. I told him that if he ever wanted them back they were his. I'm just storing them until I can get around to fixing them. Then one of my wife's friends told her that he had a bike that needed a home. It's an older step through, single speed with a coaster (back-pedal) brake. It's a nice bike for pootling around town if you have no hills. I think I'm going to fix it up and see if my youngest kid wants to use it. Maybe we'll go for some family rides or something. Could be nice! *(This is why I don't want to go into the bicycle business. Working in aviation ruined planes for me, it would be tragic if bikes were ruined for me in the same way) => ../projects.gmi [BACK]
