Technology/Thrift Stores, (sdf.org), 08/06/2019

I like to hit up thrift stores while I'm traveling, to see 
what they have to offer in different places. In the areas I 
frequent, monitors with VGA, and sometimes DVI have been 
common for a few years. I recall when the CRTs were in 
thrift stores, and when they evaporated. For years, LCDs 
have been the staple. This, of course, follows consumer 
trends.

HDMI inputs on monitors have been slow to hit thrift stores, 
but I was able to pick up a 19" Insignia TV with HDMI (and 
component, composite, and VGA) inputs for $10 on this trip. 
I saw one other HDMI monitor as well, priced above the VGA 
ones, at $20 (still not bad).

I suppose one day the monitors with VGA input will 
disappear. The HDMI ones are great for cheap RPi project 
displays, so I'm glad they're increasing.
