Wednesday, 24th June, 2026 -------------------------- I saw a post on reddit about a Tandy TRS-80 and a Kodak printer. I loved the look of it, and then set to looking for the things on ebay, but they're historical US items and pretty much non-existant in the UK. So I looked up similar things and there was the Amstrad NC100 and Cambridge Z88. A watched a couple of videos on them but then eventually closed all the tabs. I don't need it, it's just junk. Maybe fun to play with for an evening, set it up, get some software working etc., but meh. I have so many things already. Still feel like I should get rid of things...not buy more stuff. There's probably things that have no use, and I'm saving for some future event, maybe I should also get rid of computer stuff. Less things; less work - more freedom. I have two typewriters but I don't use any. Let's just have one, and maybe use it, or look after it. | What have you kept that you should've got rid of? This is what I ask myself. But it's hard to answer. I feel like I don't have a lot of stuff, but I'm sure someone else would point out the differences. Computers, and tech things are probably my weakness, but maybe there's other things. Even just getting rid of 2 items is progress. I still like buying things but perhaps this should be nice paper, stickers, etc. and write a letter to someone, or myself, or just make a nice thing with the kids. Even if it just ends up recycled. Buy some film. Like buying people food or drink for christmas. People don't need stuff but they like nice treats to enjoy. I should get rid of the random rpis etc. What's hard is the office setup. Right now there are two computers setup. The main one, which I sit at and waste my life, but also people use for homework, shopping, and whatever the others do on the computer. Then there's another wee one, some HP prebuild office thing I bought used, plus a monitor. It's the second setup so the boys could play Minecraft together. Which they did for a while but it's been a long time since they did that. That morphed into online browser games and then roblox. Roblox has since been banned, other than maybe 30 minutes on a weekend afternoon - although only one boy really seems that interested in it now. Occasionally they'll both do their homework on it. So do we still need two computers? I do have a laptop that people could use if they need. If we don't have the computer then the kids can't play on it, which sounds harsh but so often they get sucked into shite, which I end up having to block. Like Youtube or Roblox. They're playing Pokemon right now and that's wholesome...in my eyes. Would I rather get rid of the computers but then get a Switch 2 for the family? Maybe. When I was a kid, a computer was an amazing device that you could explore and do so much with - or just play games with friends - but that was pre-mainstream internet and endless everything. In fact there's so much entertainment on screens it's hard to focus on anything for any length of time. I could always pack it up and put it in the cupboard for a while. See what happens and bring it out later if needed. In parallel, I started looking at fitness rings ...mostly so I can wear a casio watch but still see sleep and heart rate and whatever. Do I need that? I'm torn, I think no and it's a waste but then having data is useful, mostly to see changes. I know if I go to bed late, I'll feel terrible tomorrow (as he sits here at >11pm writing this), so why do I need a tracker thing. I also have my Garmin watch which does many things that I don't really care about. Perhaps as I get older it'll become more useful to keep an eye on things? Maybe if I looked at the data myself it would be useful. Also I still want a gold ring and maybe it could be a useful one! It's definetly bedtime. I was looking at my site on gopher, via the Lagrange viewer, and I really like the way it looks. I might change my html version to match it. ♞▀▄▀▄♝▀▄
