![alcohol in various forms at various times] breakfast beer - Troegs Grand Cocoa chocolate stout - 6.5% x 6oz: wore off in 2-3 hrs. combined with nap, didn't interfere with work initially, but may have contributed to inflammation later - uncertain, as more coffee was consumed and aspirin dose was skipped - several variables. evening beer - leftovers of breakfast beer - many sleep experts cite studies showing that alcohol interferes with sleep, specifically the REM stage(s). i am keeping this in mind when conducting my own studies. - 6.5% x 6oz: drank an hour or so after food, effect is slightly dampened. wore off in ~2 hours. combined with nature sounds ("World Piece" podcast), helped with sleep. slept straight through - did not get up to use the bathroom until ~6.75 hrs, around my average sleep duration. felt rested when awoke. not terribly dehydrated, but chugged more water than most mornings, ~16oz at once double-shot of liquor in coffee during work hours: extended release - used Knoebel's shot glass, which is larger than a 'regular' shot glass to fit the artwork. have not gotten around to measuring it, but probably close to a double shot. - 40% abv blackberry schnapps + usual coffee: drank one or two gulps at a time over the course of ~2 hours. started at first break, 09:00. effect kicked in ~09:30 and was 'lighter' than taking the double shot at once, as expected. helped pass the time. - did not interfere with ability to perform job while in effect, but after- effects were unfavorable. felt fine until lunch, 12:00, but afterwards felt very sluggish and irritable. lunch was small/light, partial ham sandwich. evening beer - Pilsner Urquell, 4.4% - After food: no buzz at all but still get mood boost - Before food: inebriation effect, as expected. lasted the usual 2.5-3 hrs; food did not reduce effect
