7th December 2025 - Moving Challenges ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I bought a house recently. As I am currently renting, I have had the luck of being able to move slowly. I spent a fair bit of time disassembling annoying furniture left behind and being able to clean the place before moving in. One of the challenges is that I needed to move Barry, my crested gecko. He resides in a vivarium which is roughly 60cm x 60cm x 100cm. It is a tall bugger of a glass vivarium to shift. Barry is also not the happiest gecko when it comes to handling. He does not really enjoy it. He also tends to want to bite my hand. Not unusual for male crested geckos of a certain age. They are violent shaggers for sure. I requested some help from a friend and their partner. We managed to sort a few cabinets which I was struggling to lift off the wall safely and then somehow got the vivarium in a small car - a Skoda Fabia. We ended up lying the vivarium on the back side across the rear seats. Barry remained in the vivarium the whole time as he was being obstinant. Surprisingly, he managed to make it without any issues and still retained his tail. Crested geckos can drop their tail but they do not grow it back. They become frog butts for the rest of their life. Some how, Barry still has a tail! Some how we managed to get him between houses. A big weight is off my mind now. Barry is in place with all bar the wifi dependent lighting. He is alive and well. A great effort with great results.
