4th November 2024 - Playdate: The Keyper ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Today, I bought The Keyper on Playdate. I also completed it today. Normally, people would think that is terrible. However, with the Playdate, it works well. The Keyper tells the tale of a nephew who's uncle has died/disappeared and is offered the job of being caretaker for a large building. You start and discover all of the keys are missing! Oh no! The game has simple graphics which focus on showing the rooms rather than character details. The whole game involves exploring the strange layout of the building. There are secret tunnels which take you all over the building and help you find the various characters who can offer help or the usual inane comments. The world encourages exploration really well. It gives you a way of solving problems. I found the game was delightful. It was finished in essentially one session as I loved exploring the world. There are lots of odd characters and experiences which helps drive you onwards. Lots of fun even if the final puzzle drove me mad. It was not necessarily clever but I was eventually able to brute force my way through it. I would certainly recommend playing it. It should offer an hour or so of fun. A solid 4/5 effort which leaves me wanting more.
