November 17th, 2015: I'm in the process of clearing the last of my lab from our old house, most of which were old computers I'd left for last, to be dumped, sold, or donated. It was a bit painful to look upon the pile. So many projects that could have been, so many ideas that never came to fruition... I decided to test each machine to see which ones would power up, as this would determine which would be parted out, sold, dumped, or donated. To my surprise, three machines I'd long given up for dead ACTUALLY POWERED UP AND BOOTED! I was particularily surprised that my Mac SE/30 still worked, as it had been directly under a pipe that leaked into the basement and had been soaked clean through (and encrusted with dishwater residue). I decided to keep the SE/30 and will clean it up when I have the time. So, too, will I keep my Sony SMC-70G and all the video production equipment I bought (see Project Acromegaly in my Thugs section), as it all seems to work. I won't go into specific details, but I'm thinking of entering both of these machines into the January Retrochallenge, more on that as it transpires. In other news, I'm in the process of resurrecting Nadia, my Powerbook Lombard, and Mecha-CJ, my Power Mac 7200. I miss having classic Macs around. Nadia will likely become my main blogging machine again, while Mecha-CJ will be upgraded with a 7500 logic board and G4-800 card, for purposes yet to be determined. So, I have lots of projects in the works once our old house is sold. It's nice to have something to do when I'm not busy being a dad! .
