24 07 09 3:32AM I have, once again, managed to spend most of a day (night) wasting time by any means possible rather than getting any actual work done on anything whatsoever. So goes the endless cycle of strange depression and manic energy. :D While I could be finding important documents I need or working on a comic like everyone keeps suggesting, I instead spent at least an hour plugging in an ancient 90's Thinkpad with it's screen chopped off. It worked! Which is cool. But despite not having seen the thing in enough years to have completely forgotten I owned it, I knew it would work just as well as I knew I'd immediately get bored and return it to some dusty corner for another decade. As much as I love a strange old machine, I've gotten too old to pretend I'm anything approaching as dedicated to this stuff as even people half my age seem to be by now. I grew up digging this stuff out of office dumpsters because I had no other way to get back online and continue wasting my youth on http://gaiaonline.com, so if I can't even telnet into SDF on something it's just not exciting anymore. I've already seen teens getting excited about buying Pentium III's off eBay more than once this decade, and despite my conflicting inner feelings about that, I will admit that they're getting something TECHNICALLY more useful than the $20 VIC-20s and crap that I was into at that age. I guess? Kinda thought I was gonna go into some sort of deeper emotional territory here but oops, I just said something boring about computers. Oh well. Maybe next time?
