Stopped to hide -------------- Its been some time since my last post, so its time to correct that. My stay in Vietnam and the contacts i had over there gave me really a new perspective, after my return i began to question the ways i do things and the way i /view/ things. For a long time i longed for the times gone by. For the endless evenings spend sitting at a computer running DOS and playing games or the early days of Linux or the time i discovered the Internet and everything was new and exciting. Since about 10 - 15 years or so i somehow began to dislike the changes in the net and the digital world and started to live somewhat in the past. I used long obsolete computers for daily work, began to "rage against the machine" and isolated myself more and more from the real world. In a way i ran away and was hiding behind dusty CPU fans and rattling disks. Having the opportunity to talk with people who never lived through the time of emerging computer technology and who where brought up in a culturally completely different nerd bubble saw seeds of doubt in me. After my return i began to slowly emerse myself into the "real world" of current tech, created some accounts on bigger social media platforms and began to really look into the world i was hiding from. And honestly: I began to like it. And i stopped hiding. In the end this kinda, sorta, in some sense a form of a "good bye" post to the gopherverse, maybe not forever, but for now i am done with living in the past and worshipping the ash of a era gone bye. If you open your eyes you may also notice: The future is bright and exciting. In this spirit: So long, and thanks for all the fish!
