Well, the year is rapidly approaching its end and i just wanted to
publish one last phlog entry in 2025 to recapture a few thoughts
about the state of ... well, everything.

For me personally, the year was way better than the last few. Things
settled in, junior is growing and developing at a breakneck speed,
the house is not THAT fast falling apart anymore and financially
everything is not THAT hopeless anymore either. We did a few cool
trips, and were not anything near as often sick as last year. Oh,
and no catastrophes... no unscheduled hospital visits or anything
like that. The year really was better.

On the computer side of things... well, i didn't have as much time
as i wish to try out new things, tinkering time with a small kid
is really a rare thing! But at least i could look into a couple of
unixoid operating systems, played around with FreeDOS again and
set up a /somewhat/ working Gentoo system. I have rescued a few
computer refurbished them and handed out a few to other people.

Regarding the state of the (tech-) world... that is a completely
different and not that nice topic. I have the feeling that everyone
is going nuts. The term "Nazi" is used way to often and way to easy
in my oppinion and it looks like everyone is rather looking for
differences than for things we have in common. Somehow it feels
for me like everyone is hoping for or at least expecting a "Big
Bang", a big change in things... like in the summer when you feel
the air is humid, thick and you really can feel the tension that
has to be released by a thunderstorm. I just hope that clearing
storm will not be too destructive.

Regarding "AI"... this year i moved like a pendulum between excitement
and the wish to witness a big Butlerian Jihad burning everything
regarding that technology. At last, i settled for the latter.

I also spend way too little time exploring the neitherworld of the
smol net. I managed to connect to the Lambda Moo a few times, but
spend too little time online to meet people or explore more of this
alternate reality. Perhaps next year...

I want to conclude this entry by wishing all inhabitants of this
hidden corner of the net a good start into the year 2026!
