Is anyone even here?

If you somehow stumbled upon my corner of the gopherspace or gemini, thank you for visiting!

I'm writing this aboard the Crown Princess cruise ship while experiencing some high wind gusts and choppy swells departing from Fiji toward New Zealand. How better to spend a lazy sea day than to start exploring gopher in more detail. In my early 40's, I'm too young or too antisocial to enjoy any onboard activities. I'd rather be tucked away in my nice balcony room with the wifi package than mingling with the (mostly drunk) Aussies onboard.

What do people normally do on cruises? I've been on quite a few, but now I usually go with a couple non-fiction books to learn a new skill and enjoy the whirlpool jacuzzis. On my last one, I studied for a ham radio license, learned some morse code on an iOS app called MorseMania, and wrote some Python code. This time I brought a book on Basic Keelboat sailing and an ARRL Operating Manual for Radio Amateurs. Both of those hobbies seem to be deep rabbit holes, but I guess it's never too late to start.

Anyway, I think that's enough for today. Sorry to bore you all! Tomorrow I'll share a funny story about my adventures in the casino onboard. Time to eat again! LOL
