Anticipating Getting Things Done David Allen. Getting Things Done. Penguin Books. 2001. "The Art of Stress-Free Productivity" That sounds like exactly what I need. I learned of this book serendipitously looking for a DokuWiki plugin. One of the plugins' descriptions mentioned the "Getting Things Done" (GTD) methodology. Googling curiously, I discovered a very interesting method for organizing ones work and life, and the book Getting Things Done. What attracts me to the GTD method is that is sounds like an improved version of techniques I have been experimenting with on my own in desperation to improve my productivity at work. My opinion of self-help techniques in general is that they consist of about 80% obvious common sense and about 20% potentially useful insight the applicability of which is greatly limited by the personalities of the practitioner and those around him. "That's a great idea, but I could never act that way/it would never fly in my office." GTD is probably the same, but I am hopeful that this is one method that's a match for my personality, and I'll be able to fruitfully apply at least partially. At 1333 JPY the book isn't a big investment. It arrived from Amazon Japan yesterday. I put it in my brief case this morning and began reading on my way in to work. I'll let you know how it goes.
