BASIC Lessons -*-org-*- 2012/2/10 Gave T her first programming lesson in the train on the way and back from the secondary school she'll start at in April. We used Bas 2.1 on my Zaurus SL-C1000. The lesson covered: - Programming basics: NEW, LIST, SAVE, LOAD, line numbers, adding lines, immediate mode - Displaying text: PRINT, displaying, text, numbers, and variables, displaying multiple lines, displaying multiple items on line, - Arithmetic operators: + - * / - User input and variables: INPUT T's interest makes me think I should translate some of the Creative Computing games to Japanese for the kids' entertainment ans inspiration. I think having a few sample Japanese programs is more important than getting the whole collection up on either RetroNET or Twenex.org. Maybe I should make the project a multi-site, multi-platform, multi-year affair. I work program-by-program, keep a blog and big scoreboard updated with progress, and publish program-by-program, platform-by-platform as I get each ready.
