The acupuncture field as a whole has problems advancing in public status. 
We're not organized and we have little money.  When you put those together
you get exactly no leverage.

I recently looked at Google Maps showing the geographical spread of
acupuncture practices.  Suddenly the idea that the field has problems
advancing in status becomes a lot more clear.

Practices are entirely focused around existing schools and small (read:
starving) artistic communities.  In short, we have declared our hippie
status.  It's no wonder that we have problems with leverage.
