If you have a Verizon cell phone, you should read this article [

].  As most all of my friends have Verizon service, I figure they will want
to know about this.

In summary, Verizon states that unless you call a particular toll-free
number (800-333-9956) and specify your account information, they reserve
the right to share certain types of information about your phone usage with
third parties.  The phone number provides an opt-out service.

According to most states (and I think the federal govt. as well), what
Verizon is doing is technically an illegal practice, but apparently they
have bought off enough of the government so that no one cares.
