NEW KITTENS (Posted 2007-09-04 14:17:58 by ArchPaladin) One of my coworkers sent an email to everyone in the company last Friday saying that he found a couple of abandoned kittens and wanted to know if anyone wanted to take them home. As my fiancee, my roommate, and myself all like kittens, we decided to take them. We now have new kittens. They are both small (about three pounds), primarily black with some mottled orange spots. One is male and the other female. There was a third, gray and white striped kitten, but this is going to my fiancee's mother. There is some concern that the new kittens will not get along very well with the older cats that we have in the house. Our roommate's cat in particular is rather timid, and he may not defend his territory should the little ones invade. To avoid this from happening, I think my fiancee and I will be playing with the kittens often so that they attach to us rather than to our roommate (and thus invade her room). No telling if this is going to work or not. I'm rather excited for new kittens. Hopefully they will integrate well into the household. -------- There are 2 comments on this post: Comment #1 by Krys ( auggiememnon@yahoo.com ) on 2007-09-04 16:50:43 Not that I wish kitten-invasion-of-privacy upon Zoe, but yeah, if they attach to you guys they may be more likely to sleep in your room during the day and night and such. Right now they are asleep on the couch downstairs on Nicole's soft blanket. They had both curled up to sleep on my lap while I watched 12 Monkeys. Prior to that, the boy was asleep on my desk, much to Auggie's dismay. He got really close to the kitten a couple times to smell it while it slept, sniffed it, then grumble-hissed and laid down to watch it. He seems to be okay with the kittens not in the room (and he's YET to discover that there are two of them and not the one he's interacted with) so hopefully he'll retain control of my room, or at the very least assert dominance over this room, when kittens inevitably invade, like he sort of did with the boy kitten earlier. They are both little purrballs. ^_^ Comment #2 by ArchPaladin ( blog@archpaladin.net ) on 2007-09-05 14:19:37 Indeed they do purr. I like cats that purr - I think this comes from both Garfield and Felix being purring cats. I hope it keeps up as they get older.
