SALT AND MATH (Posted 2009-03-13 14:13:46 by ArchPaladin) So there is an 8-year old kid in England who has apparently won some record on the A-level math exams. [ http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/7941327.stm ] [bbc.co.uk] I'm not in England, so I really have no idea what that means other than "this kid = good at the maths". What I find interesting is that his goal in life is to become an actuary. _An actuary._ I didn't know what an actuary was until about eight months ago, and it didn't sound very interesting when I did know. It's all well and good that this kid has the dream, but it just seems a little too ordinary for me. Perhaps even more interesting is the recent development of Christian salt [ http://memphi.net/christian-salt.html ] [memphi.net] - a poor spin-off and probable misunderstanding of kosher salt. Gives new meaning to being the salt of the Earth, as well as all those other salt-related expressions that are in culture (ie. throwing salt over the shoulder, being worth your salt, etc.). I almost want to get some just to say that I own it. -------- There are no comments on this post.
