Music: Pat Metheny Group - Speaking of Now ============================================================================= Things are beginning to come together again. I feel like I've been able to brush off the usual work/school grind with some spontaneity over the past week or so. Programming assignments are getting done, including an assessment from a company I'm trying to land an internship with. I hope to hear back from them in the near future about a possible interview. It's hard to think that the semester is already half over. The idea that it's already a month from Thanksgiving is kind of scary. Where did the time go? It makes me feel like I'm getting old, but perhaps I just don't have as much to remember each day by. I've been going to a couple diners and cafes recently with friends and family. Yesterday I went to a place called "Alexanders Cafe" downtown with my sister. I'd never been there before, and it was pretty good. A lot cheaper than some of the other usual spots I like to frequent, too. I really want to go back sometime and try a panini. They seem to be known for them. I've also been expanding my music media collection. A couple days ago I went to a diner called the "Skylark Diner" with a few friends for dinner. It was a completely last-minute deal that I was more than happy to show up to. And afterward, we drove over to the other side of the parkway and went to a place I had never been to before. An old shop selling all sorts of media, including vinyl, cassettes, comics, movies, CDs, cards for various trading card games like Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon, figurines, manga, anime, you name it. It was a really interesting place to just wander around and discover things, but what I really loved was their selection of cheap used cassettes and records. I came away from that trip with cassette copies of "Drama" by Yes and "Who's Next" by The Who, as well as an original - although pretty beat up - vinyl pressing of "Going for the One" by Yes, one of my favorites from their discography. And all of that for only $16! It's like I was in heaven. All in all, things are looking up. I hope things are looking up for you as well, wherever you may be out there in gopherspace.
