Old Computer Challenge Day 7 Th last day of very interesting week. Nothing special today, I dig some here, some there, mostly looking around my new environment on an old computer. That days confirm what I know since I've started to learn and use Unix/Linux. The command line programs and terminal are fantastic environment to work. Only one thing was graphical in my lab - terminal window, to bring me more rows and columns then standard OpenBSD console. Everything else was cli or tui. I remember my first steps in awk, sed, grep. First reading about troff and latex, first use of make. That were special fillings, exploring new tools which together cooperated using always the same rules of Unix architecture. Many years later I discovered plan9, too late to use daily, but that all fillings came back (doesn't matter than plan9 is fully graphical ;-). I teach at the university and I'm surprised, that most of my students don't know even about command line in windows, and don't use PowerShell console. They don't write scripts and base mostly on VSCode. So command line probably disappear, though maybe not, because of cloud ... try to deploy 100th instances just using point and click ;-) Any way "All this moments will lost in time, like tears in rain". Lets back to learn Lisp - one more step to be a bit better hacker. Greetings from 512MB Gopherhole
