[ Out of town I was out of town for three days during Golden Week vacation. Almost everyone starts work again tomorrow (Thursday), so on the news they're already talking about the "U-Turn Rush", which is everyone coming home. Airports, highways and train staions will be very crowded today. Recently I got a MacBook Neo and so I took it along with me. I said last year that I didn't think I was going to buy anything Apple anymore, but I've been a Mac user for about 30 years now. When the Neo debuted I was excited about it, and nothing excites me in the computer world anymore. I like macOS 26 Tahoe and the Liquid Glass UI, though everyone else hates them both. OS aside it's just a really nice object to hold and look at. It was nice to get out of Tokyo for a change of sight and sound. In the three days I was away I walked about 70,000 steps and I ran through several rolls of film. I slept well each night, too. My feet really hurt now though, and it's going to take some time to heal. I enjoy riding in to Tokyo after dark on the Shinkansen; gazing out the window at all the lights, the cars going back and forth, and buildings with offices, restaurants and bars all lit up and full of people. The only let down now is that the next national holiday isn't for a while, so we all have to persevere until July.
