[ PineTime I got a PineTime smartwatch (USD $26.99 + shipping) which I've been wearing for 10 days now. I quite like this thing, and I got almost the whole 10 days on one charge. I only have an iPhone with me, so I'm using Infinilink[1]. It's pretty good, but it has some things missing that I'd like to see. I'm looking forward to an update, if the header image on the GitHub site[2] is any indicator of what's coming. On the watch I had trouble with constant heart rate monitoring: sometimes it wouldn't take a reading. Also, the way the data is displayed in the app is a little awkward. One can only see the current week's step count; you can't go back to look at a previous week's data. Infinitime also does not support the weather (use Using BreezyWeather[3] and GadgetBridge[4] on Android for that.) Directions don't work and it doesn't forwards notifications, but those things don't bother me. There are only a few built-in watchfaces, but I like most of them. Information on the WWW said the heart rate monitor was not very accurate and the function should be considered a toy. Well I checked mine manually: I read my pulse for 30 seconds and then multiplied by two, and the results I got were only 1 or 2 beats different from what the watch read. With google looking to torpedo Android for everyone however[5], I think I'll have to pin my hopes on Inifintime or Linux companion apps for the future. There are some in the FAQ[6].
