Entry 005 - Some Lines You Don't Cross June 5th 2026 Well, I'm single again. Can't say I didn't see it coming. What I didn't expect was to have to block her number and promise to bring law enforcement into the mix if things escalated. It was pretty obvious from the beginning that this was not going to work. She is pretty, college educated, has two young kids, and some family drama/baggage that I should have paid a little more attention to. I'm very different than your bog-standard Kentucky boy. Sure I was born here and grew up in the Bluegrass State, but I always had a very different set of values from my peers. They became more clear to me after living in San Diego for around 16 years. * Trans rights are human rights * Black lives matter (fuck off with "ALL lives matter" bullshit) * Gender is a social construct * Nobody is illegal on stolen land * ACAB * No Kings * Y'all means all * Don't be a dick * Treat people how you want to be treated (see: Don't be a dick) Am I opinionated? Of course. Do I waver on any of these? Hell no. One universal value that goes without saying is that my kid comes first. I believe all parents would agree. Early on she wanted me to drop what I was doing, preparing food for my family, to console her about possibly losing her job. She couldn't comprehend that I wouldn't. All I needed was 30 minutes. Would she not put her kids' needs over me in a similar situation? Fast forward a few months, our pride festival took place last weekend. Of course my trans kid was going to go along with my gay sister, her partner, and gay daughter. I helped transport and stuck around for a few hours. I even ran into my friend playing in a band at the event in drag. Now, because I take care of my dad who is disabled, I don't get out of the house very often. She lives an hour away so any trips down there are going to be two hours at least that I'm not home looking after him. I've only been down there a few times and only for a couple of hours each time. It was obvious she was jealous I went to pride instead of coming to see her. She called it stupid and pointless. She could not comprehend why they need visibility and a safe space to celebrate. I was reminded of our argument about Chick-fil-A and how she said their anti-LGBTQ stance was "a stretch" even after I presented her with articles and evidence. I tried again, sending her articles and videos about why pride is important, and she refused to even look. It was a slap in the face to me and so many people that I love. The gut punch was later. During the airing of grievances, I mentioned how her parenting style was very different than mine. I was embarrassed to be in public with her and her kids. She doesn't watch them and lets them run around and do anything. She's lost her youngest more than 5 times and I can't remember that ever happening with my kiddo. Anyway, she hit me with: "at least my kids love me." This was not out of nowhere. My kid and I had an argument while she was here one day and for some reason she decided to go and talk to him. Of course as a teenager he was going to be pretty salty. Told her how terrible I was and how he didn't love me. He wanted to leave and be emancipated. You know, shit teens say. So back to the present, she weaponized that moment and a few other choice things that he told her that I'll keep to myself. At this point I'm done. I've hung up, put my phone on silent, and walked off. When I finally check my text messages, she tells me she's driving an hour up here because we need to have a talk with my kid. They need to be held accountable for their words that got her in trouble. It was clear she was off her meds so I defused the situation till she was more level-headed. Today she surprised me by showing up at my house after her court date. Her sister had taken out an EPO against her after a fight they had. I let her know that she had crossed multiple lines, and that I was done. I made her leave and after hours of calls and texts from her, I told her I was blocking her number and if she shows up here, I'm calling the police. You go after my kid, you go after me.
