10:52 CDT ========================================================================== It took me 94 minutes to reach work this morning. I think that it's safe to say that this will be my new normal travel time. It sucks, but it still beats being unemployed. I did see in the news that country artist John Anderson has died at 71. I'm pretty sure that Paul will be calling up what few John Anderson songs we know for Saturday's gig. I read an article about a bit of journalistic advice from retiring CNN journalist Christiane Amanpour: "Be truthful, not neutral." I get the feeling that she was speaking to other journalists in mainstream corporate media. I've seen too many instances of mainstream journalism bending over backwards in trying to give false equivalence to all parties in a story. Just give me the damned truth already! Nothing is scheduled for the lab today. That is a good thing for me. That just reduces the chance of encountering any possible drama from faculty or students. I'm a firm believer in the stance that those in IT support should be invisible. If you are visible, that usually means that the shit has hit the fan. That is NOT a good thing. A production environment needs to run in a smooth fashion, while minimizing any surprises. End users just want stuff to work.
