07:59 CDT =========================================================================== The morning commute was 97 minutes long. I'll have a reprieve tomorrow and Friday. Tomorrow, I'm having cataract surgery on my left eye. I have to wait until December to do the right eye because of my work schedule. I'm just fortunate that I have the resources available to me for medical care. Now that our town has a Costco Warehouse on my way to Austin, I usually stop there to gas up. The gas price was $3.49 per gallon. I know that other parts of the country are experiencing higher gas prices. But the trade-off is that I'm living in a state that is more worried about turning into a Christian nationalist theocracy, and letting women who need emergency reproductive care die needlessly. But I digress. 09:24 CDT =========================================================================== Begrudgingly, I'm resetting my issued Macbook as my primary office PC again. At least IT hasn't restricted SSH in the local terminal (yet), which lets me access my local machine over the network. This Macbook feels sluggish on the college LAN. It's probably the JAMF management software dragging down the OS. Fuck it! I can be maliciously compliant and Slashdot the shit out of IT's trouble ticket system for every little issue that I would normally be able to solve myself. 14:26 CDT =========================================================================== Apparently, the test that was supposed to be deployed in the lab at 13:30 is a non-starter. Nobody ever showed up. It's not a big deal due to the fact that I had to come to Austin anyway. I'm going to assume that my Macbook has finally settled down. Between JAMF and the upgrade to MacOS Tahoe, it was really dragging ass.
