08:33 CDT ========================================================================== After sleeping on it, I decided to not bother with a gophermap file for now. Sometimes, the simple approach is better. Today is another of those occasional 'work-from-home' days for me. It's nice to be able to avoid the morning traffic of Austin, TX. And with that, it's back to my morning coffee and news feeds. 08:50 CDT ========================================================================== As I use a terminal-only approach for some of my 'daily-driver' computer tasks, I'm finding that I tend to prefer it over a GUI computer environment. I am mindful that this approach will not negate my need to accomodate later tech (Javascript, etc). But it's nice to open a howtogeek.com article in Lynx, and not be bothered with what is known as a 'dickover'. It's a shame that the University of Minnesota tried to charge licensing fees for its implementation of the Gopher server back in the day. Yes, the Gopher structure is more rigid than HTML. But it also avoids the extraneous bells and whistles that come with the modern Web. The focus of the Web is placed on the fluff rather than the content. Now if you will excuse me, there are some clouds outside that need some shouting.
