I just came across the Gopher hole of Bob Alberti, one of the authors
of the Gopher protocol. I just think it's cool that he maintains a
presence here at sdf.org.

There's a sense of discovery from bouncing around between Gopher
resources. It's very reminiscent of my days of searching out BBSs and
exploring the contents of each one. Even better, no popups or other
dickovers to impede my progress.

Less can indeed be more.

I'm finding that Bob has gone so far as to chronicle his emigration to
Portugal earlier this year. So far, it's interesting to read his
thoughts on his efforts.

Found email from a fellow sdf.org denizen, commenting on a post I
made. I'm surprised that anybody even read my inconsequential posts.
Shout-out to Eduardo. :)

Windows NT turned 30 years old yesterday, and Windows XP is 25 today.
I cut my networking teeth on Windows NT back in the day. Good
times...good times.
