2026-08-22, 13:17 Central Time I decided that I am going to start chronicling my weekend gigs in my gopher hole. It gives me a purpose for my share of gopherspace. First, a little background. I have been playing pedal steel guitar since 1980 as a side job. I currently work with Paul Sanchez & Wrangler Country. We work around the San Antonio/New Braunfels area in Texas. The cast of merry pranksters are: Paul Sanchez: Head honcho, lead vocalist, and bass player Mike Tschoepe: Drums Anthony Howton: Vocals, lead guitar I've been with Paul for the past 15 years. At this point, I consider him to be more of a friend and colleague than a bandleader. Mike has been with us for a few years, and Anthony is the latest addition. These days, I alternate between two guitars; a 1978 Sho-Bud Pro II D10, and a 1973 Blanton D-10, serial #32. I also have a 2005 Carter S-12 with a Ed/B6 universal tuning. It's a good guitar, but I've come to prefer my vintage guitars over the Carter. For my amplifier and effects, I use an old Crate Powerblock amp, a TT-12 speaker in a Seismic cabinet, and Behringher reverb and delay pedals. I can't justify the purchase of fancier (read, more expensive) gear. I feel that I get a decent sound from my rig as it sits.
