beer shopping under the leonids

		to the three system support buddies i owe
		massive quantities of beer
		moosehead -- ordained dave microsoft
		moosehead is fine declared rick apple
		unix deepak:  moosehead is good!

		so today under the leonids invisible in the city skies
		dave and i drove out to sam's club on oakton
		but the warehouse was dry

		a dark brown car sits sideswiped at mccormick and howard
		a gray-suited woman stands in traffic
		calling on an offered cellphone
		a shining white cop car pulls up flashing
		a flattop cop sets up two orange cones

		no moosehead at target on howard
		no alcohol at target in evanston
		lots of knitwear auto parts and sweets

		moosehead at walgreens on western in chicago
		a pastel drugstore or a compact booze galore
		but at six for a cold sixpack

		moosehead at a seedy liquor store on howard
		seedy nonclientele is hanging out
		lining the dark seedy sidewalk by the wall
		but at thirteen for half a case

		no moosehead today
		maybe moosehead tomorrow

		driving back up bumpy leafy sheridan
		peering into rich people's warmly lit houses
		parking on the rustling dark stoic campus
		where dark-bundled darling women sect spaces
		with hurried sober gaits
