yes, the brain is a strange animal!! We had a great phrase at an
   old job of mine that I loved. It's "analysis paralysis" - you
   start analyzing a situation, and next thing you know, you can't
   take any action. sometimes inaction *is* the best choice - but
   sometimes freezing "like a deer in the headlights" and we end up
   getting hit by a car from inaction. i think it might be
   partially a chemical ...reaction - excess adrenyline makes you
   fight or flight (or freeze) - and I'm just like you - I find it
   amusing when I end up getting stuck. One place I get stuck is
   looking at a large menu at a drive-through window - I freeze up
   and can't make a quick decision - so I learned to have two or
   three default choices and just go with them so I don't have to
   think about it. :) "
