I'll be shorter: Can't fix people who deny evolution.* But among religious people, most don't deny evolution, only a VERY LOUD FEW.* Therefore, it's not religions or religious people that are bad, it's people within them that take it too far that are bad. They are few and they are loud.* But they are few - and show up on the Internet a lot. The people that loudly debate them online, are also behaving like idiots. It's possible to get both sides to be reasonable.* I've done it, but it's hard. Perhaps that makes me the greatest idiot of all; trying to make peace among people who want to fight.* Oh well. I keep trying.* And I apologize for making remarks about Bill Nye (he's joined the New Atheism bunch... as has Hawking... which saddened me). The Scientist heroes I grew up with only fought extremist religious people, as well as junk science, and science extremists.* Carl Sagan was my model hero. But the push of "all religions need to go away and science needs to be the one ring that rules them all" is scary.* Too much power in one place.* Science has MANY of the answers, but not all.* Not yet.* Not for a long time.** We can barely predict the weather for a few days, even with millions of lines of code.* Science has a long way to go as does technology.* Oh well, these are just my opinions.* I just don't like, "one size fits all" answers for anything.* There's no science for poetry and creativity and a religion has been forming around Science... and really. they each need to stick with what they're good at. Sorry for the length.* If it's a tl;dr, I'm ok w/that.* I need to simplify these concepts into just a few words somehow one of these days. I'm also ok if you disagree or think I'm wrong.* Tell me if you think so.* I'm always willing to change my mind based upon new evidence.
